Named after Governor Lachlan Macquarie 1761–1824, Governor of New South Wales 1810–21.
Area and Location Description:
Macquarie covers an area of approximately 4 197 sq km from the Hawkesbury River in the east, to the Wollemi and Yengo National Parks in the north and the Blue Mountains in the west. The main towns include Blackheath, Katoomba, Kurrajong, Mount Victoria, Richmond, Springwood, Wentworth Falls and Windsor.
