Name Derivation:
Named after a district name apparently originating from the fact that the Tropic of Capricorn passes through the area.
Area and Location Description:
Capricornia covers an area of approximately 125 136 sq km from Collinsville in the north, the Capricorn Coast in the east and west to Blackwater. Nearby islands are also included in the division. The City of Rockhampton and the towns of Biloela, Blackwater, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Emu Park, Glenden, Gracemere, Marlborough, Middlemount, Moranbah, Moura, Nebo, St Lawrence, and Yeppoon as well as Great Keppel Island are in this division.
