Name Derivation:

Named after Gladys Moncrieff (1892–1976), a light opera and musical comedy singer.

Area and Location Description:

It covers an area of approximately 182 sq km from the Gold Coast Highway in the north to Nerang and Worongary in the west and to Broadbeach in the south.

The main suburbs include Arundel, Broadbeach, Carrara, Labrador, Nerang, Parkwood, Southport, Surfers Paradise, and Worongary. Southport is effectively the central business district of the Gold Coast.

Tourism and associated industries, fishing, furniture, textiles, clothing and a variety of small industries.
