Australian citizens 18 years and older have until 8pm tonight (local time) to enrol or update their details ahead of the 2025 federal election.
While it is already confirmed that Australia’s enrolment rate for this election will be a record high – with around 98% of all eligible Australians enrolled – there are still people who need to act today to be ready to have their say on election day.
Nearly 400,000 enrolment transactions (combination of new enrolments and updates) have been received since the election was announced.
For the first time at a federal election, voters can enrol using a Medicare card as proof of identity – increasing accessibility to enrolment. Once the enrolment deadline has passed, you will not be able to enrol or update your enrolment details in time for the 2025 federal election.
Printed enrolment forms can be filled out at any AEC office but must be completed by 8pm today.
It is now too late to post an enrolment form to the AEC. If unable to return the paper enrolment form to an AEC office, you can also upload it to the AEC website.
All Australian citizens aged 18 and older are required by law to enrol and vote in the election.
“This federal election will have the best democratic base for participation our country has ever had.”
“The fastest way to enrol is by completing the online enrolment form on the AEC website. Don’t delay and join the 18 million Australians currently on the roll”.
“Since the announcement of the 2025 federal election, there have been nearly 400,000 enrolment transactions submitted, around 40,000 a day”.
