Election jobs on offer in regional NT

Updated: 26 November 2024

The AEC is putting out a call across the Northern Territory for paid workers to help deliver Australia’s next federal election – due by May of 2025.

There has been strong interest in the AEC’s recruitment drive for the next election, but more people are needed across the Territory. We are particularly keen to engage First Nations Polling Assistants to help voters from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds who may need support to cast their vote.

In particular, the AEC is seeking additional people in:

  • Katherine
  • Tennant Creek
  • Alice Springs
  • Nhulunbuy

Regional election jobs come in a variety of types; most are on election day with pre-polling work in some areas.

The AEC is also reminding people who may have worked at the 2023 referendum or a previous federal election that their expression of interest will not carry over for the next federal election – they need to visit the AEC’s website and register for temporary employment.

You can register your interest online by visiting the AEC’s website.

Quotes attributable to Northern Territory State Manager, Geoff Bloom

  • “We’re really encouraging people from all over the territory to sign up to work with us, because a federal election doesn’t just happen in Darwin.”
  • “Working at an election is an experience you’ll never forget, and it’s a really rare opportunity to help your community have its say.”
