The deadline for candidate nominations for the 2024 Dunkley by-election is fast approaching, with nominations closing at midday on Thursday 8 February 2024.
AEC State Manager for Victoria Natasha Scandrett said that late nominations cannot be accepted so it is crucial for any intending candidate to make sure they are well organised.
“People wishing to nominate as a candidate in the Dunkley by-election are running out of time,” Ms Scandrett said.
“Clear guidance is available for both endorsed and unendorsed intending candidates to enable them to complete the required paperwork.”
Nomination forms are available on the AEC website.
Candidates for the 2024 Dunkley federal by-election will be officially declared at midday on Friday 9 February, the day after nominations close.
Following the declaration of candidates, the Divisional Returning Officer for Dunkley will conduct a random draw for positions on the ballot paper.
The ballot draw is a public event with candidates, media representatives and members of the public able to attend should they wish to.
The list of candidates, in ballot paper order, will be published on the AEC website later in the day. The AEC will also post an image of the candidate list on social media from the event for people unable to attend.
