Voting in a referendum

When you vote in a referendum if you approve the change you write “YES” and if you do not approve the change, you write “NO”

Your vote is secret. No one can tell you how to vote. It’s your decision.

A referendum ballot paper It has different sections: - a heading: 'A Referendum on proposed Constitutional alteration' - directions to voters: write 'YES' or 'NO' in the space provided opposite the question set out below - a proposed law: a description of the proposed constitutional change - a question 'do you approve this proposed alteration?' - a box for the voter to write either 'YES' or 'NO'

The voting form has important information to help you vote correctly.

 

There is a heading letting you know that this is a ‘Referendum on proposed Constitutional alteration’.

There is – ‘A PROPOSED LAW’ – this describes the proposed change that you need to decide if you approve or not.

There are instructions – write “YES” or “NO” in the box opposite the question.
