On 22 April 2016, Gina Dario, A/g Assistant Commissioner, as a delegate of the Electoral Commission for the purposes of s.134(3) of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918, approved the application from the Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP) Party to change the party's abbreviation in the Register of Political Parties and for the Register to be amended accordingly:
New abbreviation: Marijuana (HEMP) Party
The AEC acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters, culture and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
