Named after Sir Thomas Mitchell (1792–1855), a noted Australian explorer and surveyor.

Area and Location Description:

It covers an area of approximately 182 sq km from Northmead and Baulkham Hills in the south to O'Haras Creek between Maraylya and Kenthurst in the north.

The main suburbs include Annangrove, Baulkham Hills, Bella Vista, Box Hill, Castle Hill, Dural, Glenhaven, Kellyville, Kenthurst, Maraylya, Nelson, Northmead, North Rocks, Rouse Hill and West Pennant Hills.

Products/Industries of the area:

Scattered light industry and market gardens, flowers, poultry, orchards and intensive cultivation.
