Area and Location Description:

It covers an area of approximately 2137 sq km from the New South Wales/Queensland border in the north to Lennox Head and Skennars Head in the south.

The main towns include Alstonville, Bangalow, Brunswick Heads, Byron Bay, Lennox Head, Mullumbimby, Murwillumbah, Tweed Heads and Wollongbar.

Products/Industries of the area:

Commercial fishing, dairying, beef cattle, maize, fruit (bananas, pawpaws, pineapples), beach-sand minerals (rutile and zircon), protein stock feeds, tourism, sugar, bacon and butter factories, timber, pigs, hydro-electricity plant at Mullumbimby, engineering, steel fabrication and clothing manufacturing.
