During a federal election or referendum, AEC offices are an important resource for voters to receive information and advice on AEC services and the process of voting.
To ensure that all voters have access to an AEC office and face to face advice, Election Service Centres (ESCs) are established during an election or referendum period in divisions where there is no permanent AEC office.
ESCs operate throughout the close of rolls period, when voters can enrol to vote or change their details on the electoral roll.
ESC staff will be able to answer a number of electoral enquiries and provide basic electoral services including:
ESCs will not be able to accept candidate nominations.
Locations and opening hours of ESCs will be included on the AEC website at the time of an election or referendum, but it is expected that ESCs will be operating in the list of divisions following.
