Postal voting? Don’t delay

Updated: 23 June 2020

Eden-Monaro voters planning to cast a vote by post for the 4 July by-election are being urged by the Australian Electoral Commission to act as soon as possible.

The Australian Electoral Officer for New South Wales, Warwick Austin, said it was important for those people needing to apply for a postal vote to do so now.

“The message is clear – if you need a postal ballot please act now and don’t delay,” Mr Austin said.

“The deadline for applications is 6pm on Wednesday 1 July, which is quite close to by-election day.

“The earlier you apply, the better chance we have of getting your ballot paper to you in time.”

“If you have already applied for and received your ballot paper, please complete and post it back to the AEC as soon as possible,” Mr Austin said.

As of 22 June, the AEC had received more than 13,000 postal vote applications.
