Compliance Reviews

The AEC conducts compliance reviews of annual returns lodged by political parties and their associated entities to verify the accuracy and completeness of disclosures. Compliance reviews are conducted under the legal authority of section 316(2A). The reviews are undertaken ‘off-site’ with copies of records, documents and other information relating to matters that should be included in the return delivered to the AEC in Canberra. Officers of the AEC may still attend party premises to inspect original documentation and to hold an exit interview to discuss the review.

Further information on the conduct of compliance reviews can be found at Compliance Reviews.
