Victoria
Named after Robert O'Hara Burke (1821–1861), a former Irish policeman, who led the Victorian expedition in 1860 which attempted to cross Australia from south to north. The team reached the Gulf of Carpentaria in 1861, but perished on the return journey.
It covers an area of approximately 3117 sq km of inland central Victoria.
Its main centres are Bacchus Marsh, Melton and Deer Park (south), Trentham (west), Kyneton (north), Sunbury, Gisborne and Romsey (east).
Dairying, general farming, horse studs and market gardening, timber, wine production and service industries.
