Name Derivation:

Named after Tilly Aston (1873–1947), blind writer and teacher, who helped found the Library of the Victorian Association of Braille Writers in 1894 (renamed the "Braille and Talking Book Library" in the 1950s).

It covers an area of approximately 101 sq km from Heathmont in the north to Rowville in the south, from Ferntree Gully in the east to Vermont South in the west.

The main suburbs include Bayswater, Bayswater North, Boronia, Ferntree Gully, Forest Hill, Heathmont, Knoxfield, Lysterfield, Mountain Gate, Ringwood, Rowville, Scoresby, Studfield, Vermont, Vermont South, Wantirna and Wantirna South.
