The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) confirmed today that the by-election for the federal electoral Division of North Sydney will be held on Saturday 5 December 2015.
New South Wales State Manager, Mr Doug Orr said people living in the Division of North Sydney must act now to ensure they are correctly enrolled.
"All Australian citizens aged 18 years and over living in the Division of North Sydney are required by law to enrol and vote in the by-election on Saturday 5 December," Mr Orr said.
You can enrol online or, if you're already enrolled but have moved recently, you can update your enrolment details online at www.aec.gov.au.
Alternatively, you can pick up an enrolment application at any AEC office or Australia Post outlet, or visit a Centrelink or Medicare service centre.
People who are unsure if they are living in the Division of North Sydney or if their enrolment details are up to date can check online at www.aec.gov.au/check, or call 13 23 26.
Mr Orr said the redistribution of federal electoral boundaries currently underway in New South Wales has no effect on the North Sydney by-election.
The AEC must have received your completed enrolment application before 8pm AEDT on Monday 2 November 2015 or you won't be able to vote in the North Sydney by-election.
Seventeen year-old Australians who live in North Sydney and turn eighteen on or before Saturday 5 December 2015 can enrol now and vote in the North Sydney by-election.
