The proposed boundaries for Victoria do not apply for the 21 August 2010 federal election: the current electoral boundaries remain in place.
The Redistribution Committee's proposal was released on 30 July 2010.
The proposed boundaries for Victoria do not apply for the 21 August 2010 federal election: the current electoral boundaries remain in place.
This redistribution only takes effect when the final determination is made on 17 December 2010. Therefore, for the purpose of electing federal members of Parliament, the redrawn Victorian boundaries will not apply until the first federal election after the 17 December 2010 determination date.
The redistribution process is not deferred because of the federal election.
The Redistribution Committee's media statement about the proposal is available at Victorian Redistribution 2010 – Media Releases
