2007 federal election electronic voting trials

Updated: 22 February 2012

In its review of the 2004 election, the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters (JSCEM) recommended that electronically assisted voting be trialled at the next federal election for electors who are blind or have low vision, and that remote electronic voting be trialled for certain Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel serving overseas. The Government supported these recommendations and the trials went ahead at the 2007 election. Legislation passed to enable these trials was for the 2007 election only.
