There is no election in wards where there is only one candidate nominated. These are called 'uncontested wards' because the sole candidate will be declared the 'duly elected' member of the TSRA. This is outlined in section 143A of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Act 2005.
Ward | Candidate |
---|---|
Dauan Island | GAIDAN, Joel George |
Masig Island | MOSBY, Hilda |
Ngurapai and Muralag | LOBAN, Yen N. |
Saibai Island | ANIBA, Chelsea |
Seisia | ELU, Joseph |
Ugar Island | STEPHEN, Jerry Dixie |
These wards, therefore, will not have an election. Once the results are known for all TSRA wards (including those that do have an election) the AEC will declare all winning candidates (including those listed above) as 'duly elected'.
