Last days to get on the electoral roll for the Gippsland by-election
The Gippsland by-election for the House of Representatives will be held on Saturday, 28 June 2008.
The Divisional Returning officer for Gippsland, Mr David Wakely said that this is the last chance for eligible Australian citizens to enrol to vote in the by-election.
“If you live in Gippsland and you’re not on the electoral roll, you must fill in an enrolment form and make sure you return it to an Australian Electoral Commission office by 8pm on Monday, 19 May 2008,” Mr Wakely said. “If you have turned 18 since the federal election it is important that you enrol now so that you can vote in the by-election.”
“If you’re already on the electoral roll but need to update your address details, you must complete an enrolment form and return it to one of our offices by 8pm on Tuesday, 27 May 2008,” he said.
“You can take or post your completed enrolment form to any AEC office; fax it to (03) 5144 5932; or scan and email it to gippsland@aec.gov.au,” Mr Wakely said. “You can also deliver your form directly to our local AEC office at 91 Raymond Street, Sale.”
Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the AEC website at www.aec.gov.au and are available at any Australia Post outlet or AEC office and also at any Medicare office, Australian Tax Office, Centrelink office and selected Rural Transaction Centres including those located at Heyfield, Bendoc and Cann River.
You can check your enrolment online at the AEC website or by phoning 13 23 26.
