Northern Territory federal electoral redistribution suggestions reminder

25 March 2008

The Australian Electoral Officer (Territory Manager) for the Northern Territory, Mr Iain Loganathan, today reminded all interested individuals and organisations that written suggestions must be lodged with the Redistribution Committee for the Northern Territory by 6pm Friday 28 March 2008.

"The redrawing of the Northern Territory’s federal electoral boundaries is a consultative process that is being undertaken to ensure that each of the Northern Territory’s electoral divisions has, as near as possible, the same number of electors," Mr Loganathan said.

Mr Loganathan also said the AEC provided a range of information to assist individuals and organisations to develop their suggestions. "This information is available on the AEC website www.aec.gov.au or from the AEC’s Darwin office on 08 8982 8008," he said.

Suggestions must be lodged with the Redistribution Committee by 6.00pm on Friday 28 March 2008 in one of the following ways:

  • in person to Level 7, TCG Centre, 80 Mitchell Street, Darwin, NT 0800
  • by mail to GPO Box 21, Darwin NT, 0801
  • by facsimile to 08 8981 7964
  • by email to nt.redistribution@aec.gov.au

All suggestions received by the deadline will be made available for public inspection at the AEC’s Northern Territory Office in Darwin and on the AEC website from Monday 31 March 2008.

The public have until 6.00pm on Friday 11 April 2008 to lodge written comments on the suggestions made.
