Australian Capital Territory redistribution
Members of the public were invited to submit written ideas on the proposed redistribution of the Australian Capital Territory’s federal electorates from Friday 13 March 2026.
It is recommended that people or organisations lodging a submission refer to the redistribution criteria used by the augmented Electoral Commission.
When submitting ideas regarding the electorate boundaries in the proposed redistribution, it is strongly recommended that members of the public consider the redistribution and projected enrolment quotas, as these form the two key elements that underpin the redistribution. You may also wish to consider the two Australian external territories counted as part of the Australian Capital Territory in federal elections; Norfolk Island and the Jervis Bay Territory. Under the Electoral Act, these territories are wholly required to be in separate electorates.
Submissions must be received by the Electoral Commission by 6 pm AEST Friday 10 April 2026 to allow them to be considered.
Submissions to the redistribution can be lodged by:
All the ideas received by the lodgement deadline will be published to this page on or before Monday 13 April 2026.
Please note that while the names of individuals and organisations that lodge written submissions will be published, signatures and personal details (including email and phone numbers) will be removed prior to any publication.
