Australian Capital Territory redistribution
Closes on Friday 21 November 2025
Members of the public are invited to submit written feedback on ideas for the redistribution of the Australian Capital Territory from Monday 10 November 2025.
15 ideas for the redistribution of the Australian Capital Territory were received between Wednesday 8 October and 6pm Friday 7 November 2025. These can be viewed on the ideas page. Until 6pm (AEDT) Friday 21 November 2025, feedback on ideas is invited to be submitted to the Redistribution Committee. Your submission is also able to include new ideas.
Submissions can cover all Australian Capital Territory electorates or only some of them. It is recommended that people or organisations lodging a submission refer to the redistribution criteria used by the Redistribution Committee.
In developing an idea about the boundaries of a federal electorate, it is strongly recommended that members of the public consider the redistribution quota and the projected enrolment quota, as these form the two key elements that underpin the redistribution. You may wish to consider the two Australian external territories counted as part of the Australian Capital Territory in federal elections; Norfolk Island (currently in Bean) and the Jervis Bay Territory (currently in Fenner). Under the Electoral Act, these territories are wholly required to be in separate electorates.
Submissions must be received by the Australian Capital Territory Redistribution Committee by 6pm (AEDT) Friday 21 November 2025 to allow them to be considered.
Submissions to the redistribution can be lodged by:
All the feedback on ideas received by the lodgement deadline will be published to this page from Monday 24 November 2025.
Please note that while the names of persons and organisations that lodge written submissions will be published, signatures and personal details (including email and phone numbers) will be removed prior to any publication.
