Overseas Postal Vote: Witness declaration alternative

Use this form if:

  1. You have received your postal vote pack
  2. You are overseas
  3. You cannot show the unsigned Postal Vote Certificate and blank ballot paper to an authorised witness.

Your ballot must be cast and this form must be submitted by the close of polling on election day.

Once this form is complete:

  1. Complete the ballot paper
  2. Review and complete the details on the Postal Vote Certificate
  3. Sign the Declaration on the Postal Vote Certificate
  4. Write OS Wit Alt in the Signature of Witness box
  5. Leave Category of Witness box blank
  6. Place the completed ballot paper into the Postal Vote Certificate
  7. Return your postal vote to the AEC via the two options outlined in the Guide to Completing your Postal Vote.

You must upload an image of the first page of your passport.

Your passport image must show:

  • The country and date of issue
  • Passport number
  • Name, date of birth and signature, and
  • Your photograph.

  • The size of your scanned file must not exceed 4 MB
