Updated: 5 December 2017

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) will tomorrow officially declare the poll for the recent House of Representatives by-election in the federal electoral Division of New England.

An event to publicly declare the official result will take place at:

Time: 12 midday
Date: Wednesday 6 December 2017
Location: 119 Rusden St, Armidale

Australian Electoral Officer for NSW, Warwick Austin thanked polling officials, saying that the conduct of polling and the counting process that is prescribed in the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918 had been implemented successfully.

"It is a credit to the dedication and professionalism of AEC staff and temporary polling officials that the by-election experience was smooth for over 94,000 electors who cast their vote and that an official result is able to be delivered tomorrow," Mr Austin said.

The writ for the by-election will be returned to the Speaker of the House of Representatives after the official declaration of the poll has occurred.
