Steps in the redistribution

An inquiry is being held into further objections to the proposed redistribution of electoral divisions in Tasmania, as outlined in the augmented Electoral Commission for Tasmania’s announcement on Thursday 20 July 2017.

At an inquiry, individuals or organisations may address the augmented Electoral Commission for Tasmania on any matter raised in a further objection.

Matters raised in further objections include the:

  • electoral division in which the following be located:
    • the Municipality of Dorset, the Municipality of Flinders, the Municipality of Meander Valley, and the Municipality of West Tamar
    • the areas of Hadspen, Prospect, Prospect Vale and Travellers Rest
  • boundaries between the proposed Divisions of Clark and Franklin
  • name of the proposed Division of Clark (currently known as the Division of Denison)
  • name of the proposed Division of Franklin.

Topics raised in further objections that are not discussed at the inquiry will be considered by the augmented Electoral Commission for Tasmania as part of its deliberations.

The inquiry will follow a schedule whereby no booking times are made and once a participant is finished the next will be called to address the augmented Electoral Commission for Tasmania.  It is therefore requested that participants, where possible, are seated 10 minutes prior to the starting time.
