Appointment of scrutineers by candidates

Candidates may not act as scrutineers for themselves. Scrutineers are appointed by candidates and not by the AEC or the TSRA. Candidates may appoint scrutineers to represent them at polling booths by completing a Scrutineer Undertaking form. The form must be signed by the candidate (a fax of the signature is acceptable). The name and address of the scrutineer must be given.

Scrutineers

Scrutineers carry out an important role in ensuring integrity in the conduct of elections. It is crucial that scrutineers have a clear understanding of their role. The Scrutineers Handbook is designed to help scrutineers undertake their role effectively. It outlines the rights and responsibilities of scrutineers and includes information on what to do before, during and after polling day.

For more information on the role and appointment of scrutineers please refer to the TSRA Election Guide, the Scrutineers Handbook and Scrutineer Undertaking form below.
