Named after David Bowman (1860–1916), a Member of the Queensland Parliament (1904–1916).

Area and Location Description:

It covers an area of approximately 600 sq km from Wynnum in the north to Thornlands in the south and also includes Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island.

The main suburbs include Alexandra Hills, Birkdale, Capalaba, Cleveland, Lota, Manly, Thorneside, Thornlands and Wynnum.

Products/Industries of the area:

The area is mostly residential with some crops, poultry, oil refinery, shipping, various light industries and tourism.
