New South Wales Federal Electoral Redistribution Objections Reminder

28 August 2009

The acting Australian Electoral Officer (State Manager) for New South Wales, Mr Tjoen San Lauw, today reminded all interested individuals and organisations that written objections to the proposed redistribution of New South Wales federal electoral boundaries must be lodged before 6pm on Friday 4 September 2009.

All objections received will be available for public inspection at the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) office in Sydney and on the AEC website from Monday 7 September 2009. Written comments on the objections may then be submitted by interested individuals and organisations. Comments must be received by the AEC before 6pm on Friday 18 September 2009.

“The redrawing of the New South Wales federal electoral boundaries is a consultative process that is being undertaken to ensure that each of New South Wales’s electoral divisions has, as far as practicable, the same number of electors,” Mr Lauw said.

“The redistribution proposal for New South Wales and further information about the redistribution process is available on the NSW redistribution page or from the AEC’s Sydney office on 1300 391 039,” Mr Lauw said.

Objections, and comments on objections, must be lodged by the specified deadlines with the office of the Australian Electoral Officer for New South Wales in one of the following ways:

  • in person to Level 3, Roden Cutler House, 24 Campbell Street, Haymarket, NSW 2000; or
  • by mail to PO Box K406, Haymarket, NSW, 1240; or
  • by facsimile to 02 9375 6328; or
  • by email to nsw.redistribution@aec.gov.au
