On 5 December 2005, the delegate of the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) deregistered the Advance Australia Party and the Curtin Labor Alliance.

Deregistration of these two parties was in accordance with paragraph 136(1)(a) of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918; a period of 4 years has elapsed since the polling day in the last election for which the party endorsed a candidate.

Similarly, other individuals and orginisations/lobby groups (third parties) who take part in an elction campaign may also be rquired to disclose details of gifts made.
