Determination of Federal Parliamentary Entitlement

The Electoral Commissioner, Mr Andy Becker, will release the determination of the number of Federal Members of the House of Representatives that each State and Territory is entitled to at the next federal election, at 3.00pm on Thursday 20 February 2003.

The determination will be made available via a media release and on the AEC's website at www.aec.gov.au.

The Australian Electoral Commission expects to receive the Australian Bureau of Statistics' population estimates this morning. Following receipt of these estimates, the AEC will undertake the process as outlined in the Commonwealth Electoral Act sections 46 and 48 to determine the representation entitlements.
