The AEC Library collects information related to the subject of elections in the specific areas of:
- Australian and International;
- Elections;
- Electoral legislation;
- Politics;
- Constitutional law;
- Peacekeeping;
- The study of democracy and democracies;
- Voting.
The information we keep
In addition to election specific material we also hold the following collections:
- Country specific material specifically on the elections of other countries and their electoral/political systems;
- Parliamentary Reports on the holding of elections, and other issues, in Australia;
- Australian Federal Election statistics;
- Referendum statistics and information;
- Archival collection – a smal historical collection consisting of:
- Legislation and Regulations pertinent to elections from 1890;
- Writs and Proclamations;
- Redistribution maps;
- Electoral results.
Accessing services and borrowing material

You may borrow materials from us by using the Inter-library loans services of any library.
Note: We do not lend to individuals, only to libraries. Some of the older and more heavily used materials are not for loan at all.
Many books held by the AEC Library are listed on the National Database of materials held in Australian libraries.
Access to this database is via subscription, or through a your local or organisational library.
